Custom fishing rods / Hand built

CW Rods

Small-batch rods built around blank action, guide layout, grip balance, and the quiet details that make a rod feel right in hand.

Built one at a time

Rods with the patience of bench work.

Each CW Rods build starts with the intended water, lure range, line class, and preferred grip feel. The result is not a generic catalog rod, but a tuned fishing tool with measured guide spacing, clean wraps, and durable finishing.

The page below is arranged like a workshop product sheet: series, specifications, materials, joint care, lead time, and ordering notes in one place.

Details that show up on the water

Guide train, grip, wrap, finish.

Every build sheet records the blank, guide set, spacing, grip dimensions, wrap colors, finish notes, and balance target. The goal is simple: a rod that looks restrained, fishes cleanly, and holds up season after season.

  • Static guide test and spine/action check before wrapping
  • Cork, EVA, carbon, or split-grip handle options
  • Single or accent thread wraps with sealed epoxy finish
  • Ferrule inspection and care guidance for multi-piece rods

Accessory care

Joint Wax

A small ferrule wax for multi-piece rods. Apply a thin film to the male ferrule before assembly to reduce slipping, clicking, and dry friction at the joint.
